Happy Zen Horse Stands (幸福禅马步站桩功法)

Preparing posture:
Relax completely.
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.
Point the toes slightly inward.
Your arms hanging naturally with palms facing touching the side
of the thigh.
Keep the head and neck erect with eyes looking straight in front.
Breathe naturally.

Standing posture:
Meanwhile, raise and stretch forth upper arms slowly,
and have the armpits “opened” (with enough space to hold an egg in it).
Flex both knees like riding a horse.
Slowly raise forearms, which should be parallel to each other, to the
ground-paralleling level with palms facing downward and fingers straightening
naturally.

Happy Zen Arahat internal form (幸福禅罗汉内劲功法)

Nèi Jìn or Nèi Jìng (Chinese: 內勁) is the Chinese term for the "internal power"
associated with chinese martial arts.
Theoretically the opposite of brute muscular force, nèi jìn should be characterized
by softness, elasticity, and flexibility. When nèi jìnis successfully exerted, body and
breathing supposedly work together as a single unit, with no wasted effort anywhere
in the musculature.
Proponents of nèi jìn claim that as one ages the power of muscles expanding and
contracting in tension gradually decreases but coordinated  nèi jìn and its resulting
leverage will increase with time if it is cultivated assiduously.
This power is allegedly unique to the internal martial arts of China and rarely found in other
martial arts, if at all, although different schools definethe term differently.
Nèi jìn is developed by using "nèigōng" (內功), or "internal exercises," as opposed to "wài gōng"
(外功), "external exercises." Also, many internal styles use pushing hands as a way to train
the principles.
A famous application  of nèi jìn is the "fā jìn" (發勁) used by practitioners of the internal martial arts
to generate relaxed but explosive force.
A key aspect of fa jin is the recruitment of the body's sinews (tendons, ligaments, and other Connective
tissues) to release force rather than relying on muscular tension.
Jìn (勁), or "power," is often confused by Westerners with the related concept of jīng (精), which  literally
means "semen," and by extension used metaphorically to mean "essence" within the  context of Taoist
literature and traditional Chinese medicine.

What is Happyzen Qigong?

 What is Qi (氣)?

“The Dragon develops spirit, the Tiger develops the bones and tendons, the Snake develops internal
energy, the Crane develops the essence and the Leopard develops strength.”

An Introduction to  Happy Zen Qigong

Qi is actually a form of energy that travels throughout our body meridians. Meridians are not blood vessels and they are channels for our blood and qi to flow over the surface of our body. In traditional Chinese medicine, qi is considered a life force that animates the body.
This vital energy flows over the acupuncture meridians and it is responsible for the
energetic to all organs, cells, tissues and structures in the body.

Why is Qi so important?
Qi is vital in our body because it controls the movement and guiding our blood to a
specific organ and in TCM, it leads to the saying that “Qi is the commander of blood”.
The functions of Qi:
1. Promoting function:
Qi promotes the growth of the human body by activating the physiological functions
of our organs and tissues. It also helps to produce and circulate both blood and fluid in
our body.
Deficiency of qi will cause retardation of the growth, hypo function of organs, insufficiency
stagnation of blood/fluid and it will lead to a variety of symptoms such as general fatigue,
insomnia, loss of appetite, frequent urination, premature ejaculation etc.

2. Warming function:
Qi has a warming effect that keeps our body temperature on a constant level.
It can lead to a lowered body temperature and cold limbs syndrome if deficiency.

3. Defending function:
Qi is able to defend our body from virus or bacteria invasion.
So for people with a weakened qi, they are more susceptible to common cold, pneumonia
and other infections. In western terms, qi defending function acts like immune system.

4. Transformative function:
“Transformatiion” function means that qi has the ability to "vaporize" substances in our body and
transform them into essence or vital energy which are important for the metabolism of fundamental
substances.

5. Consolidation and retention function:
Qi prevents the extravasations of blood in our body. It can also control the secretion, excretion of
sweat, urine and saliva.
